…fashion is a passion…

After attending the Vodafone VIP catwalk show during London Fashion Weekend I have come to the decision that fashion is based in passion.

You have to love fashion and its all encompassing world to want to attend catwalks and events. As stated in a previous blog, women have more invested in fashion, so a catwalk show has more to offer them. This however should never stop any man attending one. Be inspired and think ‘adaptation’, just because they are showcasing women’s wear doesn’t mean you can’t find a male alternative. We are no longer hunter gathers, the human species has evolved. We have more time to socialise. We have become birds of paradise, we grow big bright, inappropriate, indulgent and impractical feathers.

Women are becoming more attracted to metrosexual men. No, not a guy who is into having sex on the underground. Men who are well groomed, well kept and well dressed, to a degree. No one wants an overly tanned eyebrow plucking ‘man’.

Maybe this blog should be called something else like “Oi women (and men) like men who wash”. It just sounded a bit too harsh and forward. The title is a little misleading. Keep reading though. There is a point to be made, maybe.

Most women of this earth, from tribal women in Africa to posh upstate New Yorkers have a built in desire to attract. In turn they make sure they look their best. This leads them to shop.

Men are still behind the curve, you can understand why. Maybe the theory that men evolved from women…yes I just said that…(why do you have nipples?), maybe it is true.

It’s slowly happening, men are slowly catching on to fashion. It’s not a passion yet but give it time. You know the rule, ‘Sex in the City’ said it “First the gays, then the girls and then the world!” I think that’s relevant. If not it sounds good so I am leaving it in.

GQ I feel have always led the way and now with the launch of Men’s Fashion Week. I hope that in time the variety and range of clothes available for men to express their inner bird of paradise become more available.

Off to find my AMEX, see you in the queue.
